RJ Hosts ‘Think Pink’ Day for Breast Cancer Awareness
Royal Jordanian, in collaboration with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, hosted “Think Pink” day at RJ’s headquarters in Amman.
This event is part of the annual awareness campaign “Stay in my life… get screened”, organized by the Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP).
“Think Pink” day is held to help increase awareness about the benefit of early detection of breast cancer, which increases survival rates up to more than 90%.
Female employees were invited to a lecture given by one of the top educators and staff nurses working for the Jordan Breast Cancer Program, Latifeh Zuhdi, who said that “the main objective of the program is to decrease the rate of death resulting from breast cancer through early detection and screening”.
She drew attention to the symptoms of breast cancer and the factors that increase the possibility of being affected by the disease, and the screening tests women should perform.
Zuhdi also stressed the importance of regular screening and explained the mechanism of monthly self-examination of breasts, in addition to answering queries while handing out awareness flyers.
Since the beginning of October, RJ has been displaying items promoting this campaign at its gift shop its the head office in Amman. RJ employees and visitors can buy these items to aid the covering costs of screening of underprivileged women.
RJ’s participation in the campaign comes as part of its social corporate responsibility role; RJ is a great supporter of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center in the fight against cancer.
