Kuehne + Nagel Unveil New Logistics Hub in Singapore
Kuehne + Nagel has unveiled its new Singapore Logistics Hub, a 50,000 sqm built-to-suit facility located in the west of Singapore. The facility is part of Kuehne + Nagel’s regional expansion plan to support its fast growing supply chain clientele operating within Singapore and the ASEAN countries.
Klaus-Michael Kuehne, majority shareholder and Honorary Chairman of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, said, “Singapore is located at the heart of major shipping lanes in Asia. We have identified its pivotal role to regional trade 46 years ago and it remains today an important part of our growth strategy in Asia Pacific. The Singapore Logistics Hub is Kuehne + Nagel’s largest investment outside Europe and represents our long-term commitment to the market. The new facility provides the necessary end-to-end, value-added supply chain capabilities to support our customers through Asia’s complex trade and logistics landscape.”
Supporting high growth industries within Asia-Pacific
The Singapore Logistics Hub provides 46,000 sqm of warehousing space, which will help facilitate major pharma and healthcare hubs, manufacturers, and ports. Aside from the standard freight and warehousing service offerings, the new facility will serve as a regional centre of excellence for high-tech, industrial, pharmaceutical and healthcare customers, offering supply chain optimization and value-chain transformation solutions. More than 40 per cent of the new logistics hub has been furnished with advanced chilled storage, redressing, and postponement facilities to support the growing base of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies operating in Asia. KN PharmaChain helps to facilitate all these offerings, and aims to provide a one-stop end-to-end supply chain solution to the industry.
The new facility will include a Logistics Learning Hub which focuses on driving talent development, training, and succession planning to support business growth. Over many years Kuehne + Nagel has enjoyed a close and successful cooperation with the Singapore Economic Development Board, especially in the fields of employee education and innovation. Its Chairman, Dr. Beh Swan Gin, said: “Asia presents many opportunities for companies to create new businesses and further differentiate existing ones. Innovation is therefore critical for the continued transformation of Singapore’s logistics industry and the strengthening of Singapore’s position as a world-leading logistics hub. We are pleased and honored to have a long-standing partner, Kuehne + Nagel, travel with us on this exciting journey.”
Driving customer centric supply chain innovation
The Singapore Logistics Hub will include Kuehne + Nagel’s first centre of excellence for logistics innovation in the region.
Dr. Detlef Trefzger, Chief Executive Officer of the Kuehne + Nagel Group: “The centre of excellence for logistics innovation is an integral element of Kuehne + Nagel’s strategy to foster continual and operations-related logistics innovation through stronger collaboration with customers, partners and employees. Global companies are realizing that efficient supply chain management can be the differentiator in today’s dynamic business landscape. The centre of excellence will allow us to work alongside our customers and partners in developing technologies and business strategies that are pragmatic and enhance supply chain efficiencies.”
