DWC Welcomes World’s Most Powerful Aircraft AN225
Dubai World Central (DWC), Dubai’s second airport and the world’s 20th busiest international airfreight center, welcomed the world’s largest and most powerful aircraft, the Antonov 225 (AN-225) on 17th May, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. The aircraft, named Mriya – which means Dream in Ukrainian, made stops in Australia, Turkey and Malaysia before touching down in Dubai. The aircraft departed Dubai this morning for Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport in Italy.
The Antonov 225 is the enlargement of the Antonov 124, and was originally purposed to transport the Buran spacecraft. With a fuel capacity of 300,000 kg and a cargo hold volume of 1,300 m3, the AN-225 reaches the maximum speed of 850 km/h and the service ceiling of 11,000 m.
