Take a Peek Inside Emirates SkyCentral DWC

Emirates SkyCargo has been making many moves and setting new standards for air cargo and cool chain facilities in recent years. Emirates SkyCargo took the initiative to study and invest in major infrastructure that has made the airline a leading transporter of temperature sensitive cargo.

Geographically, it also makes sense to have Dubai as a hub city for cargo. It’s closely linked to the Indian subcontinent, Africa, Asia and many other heavily populated areas and countries that are just hours away. With their investments and central location, Dubai is staking their claim as a premiere hub for all types of cargo.

The ultra-modern Emirates SkyCentral facility inside DWC was the first facility Emirates created and works in tandem with the DXB facility located only a few hours away.  The facility at DWC has become a major hub that connects 150 destinations including 51 freighter destinations. SkyCentral DWC has an enormous 15,000 sqm of cool chain space available, with 72 cool cells and three of it’s own pharmaceutical storage rooms. SkyCentral DWC caters to the all types of cool care cargo, and handles the 16 dedicated freighters that Emirates operates.

The latest addition to their cool chain infrastructure was that of SkyPharma, a new purpose-built facility at Dubai International Airport (DXB), offering 4,000 sqm of space dedicated to pharma life sciences cargo which also links seamlessly to SkyCentral DWC.

While at the inauguration event for SkyPharma in Dubai, we were also lucky to get a peek inside their original cool care facility, SkyCentral inside DWC. Check out the video for a rarely seen look into this amazing facility.
