Qatar Airways Announces Aggressive Expansion at ITB Berlin
Qatar Airways recently announced at ITB Berlin their plans for 2018-2019 which includes the addition of 16 new destinations. The announcement was made on the opening day of the fair by His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive for the Qatar Airways Group. It was revealed the airline would increase their number of worldwide destinations as part of their expansion. H.E. Mr. Al Baker also announced that Qatar Airways is set to be the first ever Gulf Carrier to operate a direct service to Luxembourg.
H.E. Mr. Akbar Al Baker Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive said, “Qatar Airways is tremendously excited to announce a further expansion with a significant number of new destinations to be added to our extensive global network throughout 2018 and 2019. This is a direct reflection of our commitment to connecting travellers across all corners of the world in a way that is meaningful and convenient to them. We are committed to continuing our ambitious growth strategy, in order to be able to provide our passengers with as much choice as possible and to take them anywhere in the world they wish to go.”
Another subject he spoke passionately about was the recent blockade against Qatar and the impact it had, “During the blockade, Qatar Airways continued its expansion; it continued its march ahead. We kept our country supplied and we became prouder as a nation. The blockade made my ruler an icon of defiance. Today, we are more independent than we were nine months ago. We are very defiant, and Qatar Airways will keep on expanding and keep on raising the flag for my country all over the globe.”
The Qatar Airways exhibition stand featured augmented reality along with a 360 digital screen circling around the whole stand showcasing their Qatar Airways five-star journey. The stand included their much-lauded Qsuite which has won several industry awards for their “First in Business Class” concept.
