China Cargo Airlines Launches Shanghai-Pudong to Frankfurt Service
China Cargo Airlines recently received an auspicious welcome along with a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony at Frankfurt Airport in Germany, to mark their first operational flights out of the largest aviation hub in Germany.
The airline is a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines and is the largest cargo carrier to begin service at the German airport. The new service will link Shanghai-Pudong to Frankfurt every Wednesday and Sunday.
More flights will be added when China Cargo Airlines obtains additional traffic rights for the route.
Executive Director Operations (COO) for Fraport AG, Anke Giesen had this to say about the new service, “We’re pleased to be able to welcome China Cargo Airlines here in Frankfurt. This not only strengthens FRA as a cargo hub but also further improves our position in the Chinese market.”
China Cargo Airlines was established in 1998 and was the first airline in China solely devoted to cargo transportation. The company is a joint venture between China Eastern Airlines and China Ocean Shipping and has in their fleet three Boeing 747-400-F and six Boeing 777-F aircraft that serve 19 destinations in 13 countries.
