GDP Certification Renewal for Cargolux
Luxembourg-based Cargolux Airlines have recently passed their GDP Surveillance Audit resulting in their GDP certification being validated for one more year. The renewed certification was awarded after the company fulfilled the requirements of the EU directive ‘Guidelines on Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use’.
In January 2014, Cargolux became the world’s first GDP certified airline the company is dedicated to operating a consistent quality management system throughout the whole transportation process.
The company’s Luxembourg hub at Findel Airport along with 12 other stations within its network also have GDP and/or CEIV Pharma certification, via ground handling agents and sub-contracted service partners.
Cargolux Director Global Logistics Services Franco Nanna said, “GDP Certification ensures best practice policies are upheld in the handling and transportation of this sensitive cargo.”
Further adding, “Along with the temperature controlled zones onboard the aircraft, this certification represents additional peace of mind for our customers whose satisfaction is our key priority”.
The GDP certification is an integral part of the continuous improvement in quality and the integrity I the movement of medicinal products for human consumption.
Global Product Manager for CV Pharma, Stavros Evangelakakis said, “The demand for specialized transportation of pharmaceuticals has risen considerably over the past few years and Cargolux’s dedicated product CV Pharma is in increasing demand. There is growing market interest in these products in South America and Africa although the majority of the supply is still flown from Europe to North America, North East Asia and the Gulf region.”
