DB Schenker Builds Second Dubai Logistics Center

German Logistics Giant DB Schenker recently announced they will build their second logistics center in UAE city of Dubai. The new facility will be built next to the world’s largest airport, Al Maktoum International Airport.

His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman, Dubai Aviation City Corporation was in attendance for the auspicious groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of this new state-of-the-art logistics center.

The new temperature-controlled warehouse center will be 35,000 square replete with a 3,500 square-meters mezzanine area for facilitating value-added services, the center when complete will be the largest investment in Middle East & Africa in DB Schenker’s history.

The facility is projected to be open and fully operational by the first quarter of 2019.

The center will function completely on solar power making it the first DB Schenker mega-site in the world to do so. This is the second phase of a three-phase project for the development of contract logistics in Dubai, with the overall goal of creating 80,000 square meters of logistics space DB Schenker by 2021.

Head of Contract Logistics / SCM for the Middle East and Africa for DB Schenker, Ako Djaf said, “Dubai is our regional hub for the Middle East and Africa and investing in Dubai South was a strategic step to strengthen our network and to complete DB Schenker‘s service coverage in UAE.”
