Swissport Cargo Basel Receives IATA Pharma Logistics Certification
Swissport Cargo Services has recently announced they have been awarded full CEIV Certification for sensitive pharmaceutical logistics at Basel EuroAirport by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
With this new certification air freight, customers can expect the highest quality and safety standards for the movement of sensitive pharma shipments. The Swissport warehouse in Basel is now the sixth in the company to receive CEIV certification for their cargo facilities.
Swissport International Chief Commercial Officer, Nils Knudsen said, “We are very pleased to receive the recognition by the CEIV for pharmaceutical logistics services at our state-of-the-art cargo facility in Basel.”
He further added, “The CEIV certification underlines the attractiveness of our services at Switzerland’s most modern air freight terminal.”
Basel has experienced growth rates of nearly ten percent per year with a total turnover amounting to 47,000 tonnes in 2017 making it one of Swissport’s key cargo hubs.
Swissport began operating in Basel in 2015 and since then has continuously expanded its on-site offering. The company has exclusive direct access to the Tarmac resulting in the company being able to move pharmaceuticals from their temperature-controlled warehouse to the aircraft in an average of two minutes.
The company has a further large-scale expansion planned with the signing of a new long-term lease agreement for a new facility at CargoCity South at Frankfurt Airport. The new facility in Germany will be around 16,000 square meters in area, making it the third largest in their network of 133 warehouse facilities throughout the world.
