Kerry Logistics Acquires South African Freight Forwarders S.A.S.
S.A.S. was established over 30 years ago in Johannesburg, South Africa and has been providing their global customers with innovative and flexible solutions.
With this new acquisition, Kerry Logistics can further expand their air and ocean freight services in the South African region, along with bolstering a network of first-class agents in Africa. Although the new office is in Africa it will be managed under the European division of Kerry Logistics.
Kerry Logistics Managing Director for Europe, Thomas Blank said, “South Africa’s economy has an important standing on the African continent with excellent trade lanes not only to the Chinese market but also the large exporting economies of the European Union. We are pleased with this great opportunity to further develop our business through this trade. We are glad to welcome the entire S.A.S. team into the Kerry Logistics network. Their experience and local knowledge will strengthen our freight forwarding capabilities in Africa.”
South Africa, along with being the second largest economy in Africa is a key manufacturing hub for the global automotive industry. The industry makes up a majority of all of South Africa’s imports and exports, with foreign trade being the staple of the economy in the country.

Kerry Logistics’ acquisition of S.A.S. is part of their long-term strategy to increase their global footprint for international freight forwarding.
The company has also been busy expanding their network in Europe with new acquisitions in Germany, Italy, Spain and opening of their inaugural office in Warsaw, Poland.
