Qatar Place Order for Five Boeing 777 Freighters
Qatar Airways recently announced at the Farnborough Air Show they have finalized an order for five Boeing 777 Freighters. At current list prices, the order is worth $1.7 billion and was originally announced as a commitment back in April 2018.
His Excellency Ali Shareef Al Emadi, the State of Qatar’s Minister of Finance and Qatar Airways Chairman was in attendance for the announcement.
His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive had this to say, “I am delighted to be further enhancing our cargo fleet and adding five Boeing 777 Freighter aircraft.”
He further added, “In the past 15 years, Qatar Airways Cargo has grown steadily and globally, becoming the third largest in the world. We could not have achieved this success without our resilient relationship with Boeing.”
Qatar Airways operates a fleet of 13 777 Freighters and two 747-8 Freighters and is one of the world’s leading air cargo carriers. The new order, when completed will increase their Boeing Freighter Fleet to over 20 aircraft.

The Boeing Company has sold 65 widebody freighters in 2018 and since 2014 has sold 180 giving the aircraft manufacturer a 98% share of the market.
