DHL Global Forwarding Open Cold Chain Warehouse in Jakarta, Indonesia
One of the world leaders in providing air, sea and road freight services, DHL Global Forwarding have recently launched a new temperature-controlled bonded warehouse in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta.
The new cold chain facility will strengthen Indonesia’s life sciences industry by optimizing their supply chains before the projected rapid growth begins.
The new facility is replete with world-class cooling technology which is certified by the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics for best-practice temperature control and will provide distributors and manufacturers with a storage environment of 2-8°C.
In addition, the facility was built using first grade Mills Test certified materials from the BlueScope Steel subsidiary, PT.NS BlueScope Indonesia.
A whole host of services designed to increase efficiency and streamline movements of delicate shipments will be offered to life sciences and healthcare customers by the new DHL Bonded Warehouse.
Such services include in-house customs clearance available after the usual 4 pm cut-off time and automatic SMS notifications designed to speed up onsite DHL teams’ response to critical shipment events.
President Director for DHL Global Forwarding Indonesia, Vincent Yong explained, “Indonesia’s pharmaceutical market is projected to grow by 10% per annum to be worth more than US$12 billion by 2022, driven largely by growth in the domestic market for generic drugs and increasingly accessible healthcare country-wide. This creates significant opportunities for both multinational and domestic life sciences operators to scale up their operations.”
He further added, “This new bonded warehouse is our latest investment in the logistics infrastructure needed to fully capitalize on those opportunities while boosting the quality of medicines, devices, and other medical goods that Indonesia’s people have access to.”
Further additional value-added services will also be implemented by DHL Global Forwarding that will aim to reduce shipment time and labor requirements, including packaging, end-to-end supply chain and final-mile delivery solutions.
