Qatar Airways Cargo Launch New Automated Mail Management System

Qatar Airways Cargo recently announced the roll-out of their new automated mail management system that is now installed in over 50 stations across their global network. The air cargo carrier is the first in the industry to launch this major enhancement to their business.

Along with the new mail system Qatar Airways Cargo has also signed an agreement with Descartes, a leading logistics solutions-provider for their Descartes vMail solution that will be integrated into their own in-house cargo management information system, Cargo Reservations, Operations, Accounting and Management Information Systems (CROAMIS) for electronic data interchange messaging.

This is certainly a game-changer in the industry as we move forward with our automation and digitalisation initiatives that not only enhance the customer experience but also demonstrate our contribution to the environment by implementing 100 per cent paperless operations.”

Descartes vMail offers round the clock support at each of the cargo carrier’s stations. The system allows for complete automation of the airmail logistics chain from the origin, through to the hub and onto the final destination. The Airmail Unit at Hamad International Airport in Doha handles more than 100 tonnes of international airmail each day, vMail will significantly increase efficiency and provide unrivaled quality, end-to-end transparency, accuracy and accelerate the flow of airmail.

More stations in Qatar Airways Cargo will adopt the system over the coming months.
