Saudia Cargo Brings ABB FIA Formula-E to the Kingdom

Saudia Cargo assisted their parent company Saudia Airlines in bringing their sponsored Formula-E cars to Riyadh for the ABB FIA’s Formula-E championship races.

Saudia Airlines are sponsoring the season-opening race weekend for the very first time which will be held in the historic city of Ad Diriyah, located on the outskirts of Riyadh, between December 13th and 15th.

The electric cars, spare parts and other equipment were flown in from several European destinations to the King Khalid Airport in Riyadh. In total 58 cars were transported with a combined load of 220 tons.

The ABB FIA Formula-E Championship is a unique class of Motorsport due to all the cars being powered solely by electricity. Starting in 2014 in Beijing, China the series visits and races in some of the most iconic cities around the world such as New York, Paris and Hong Kong.

The three-day festival not only features racing but also provides a wide variety of entertainment activities, from live musical live performances to the Allianz E-Village, an area full of innovative electric cars and video games, giving fans and families an excellent opportunity to discover the world of Formula-E and all this is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Earlier in the year, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) was held in the Kingdom for the ‘Crown Jewel’ tournament. All the necessary equipment to host the event was transported by Saudia Cargo from Riyadh to Shanghai.
