LATAM Cargo Launch Copenhagen – Latin America Service
Air Freight subsidiary of the LATAM Airlines Group, Santiago-based LATAM Cargo recently announced the launch of a new direct cargo service between Scandinavia and Latin America. The addition of Copenhagen in Denmark results in LATAM becoming the first cargo airline to offer such a service.
The new service will provide customers in these markets a better alternative to satisfy the growing interest in Latin America. The new route reduces transit times by up to 48 hours as it negates the need for additional land transportation.
A Boeing B767-300F will operate on the route with an expected 20-25 tons transported on each weekly flight. LATAM has also stated if the demand is there, the capacity and frequencies will be increased.
LATAM Cargo Senior Vice President for North America, Europe and Asia, Gabriel Oliva said, “As the cargo leader in Latin America, we have undertaken the responsibility of connecting the region with the world and vice versa. Proof of this are the more than 150 destinations currently offered by the LATAM Cargo Group. The size and strength of our network are the pillars that make us a strategic partner for our customers in providing the support needed to take their shipments to their final destinations in less time.”
Air Cargo Specialist at Copenhagen Airports, Kaspar Andreas Nissen added, “With the new route LATAM Cargo is now connecting Scandinavia to Latin America with a direct link. This will provide Scandinavian Shippers and Freight Forwarders with a smooth and efficient air freight operation directly to Latin America. Adding a direct link is not only important to the handling and shipping of Pharmaceutical products; it is equally important to the Food Ingredients industry and Automotive Parts industry, which also requires stringent and efficient transportation. Being a CEIV certified carrier LATAM Cargo will now offer a unique Pharmaceutical solution to South America, together with fast and reliable General Cargo solutions.”
LATAM Airlines Senior Sales Manager EMEA (excl. Central Europe), Alfredo Noguerales said, “We permanently evaluate the opening of new origins and destinations to satisfy our customers’ needs. In this opportunity, we chose to strengthen the connectivity between our clients in Scandinavia and Europe with Latin America. This, through a route that reduces transit times and makes our product portfolio’s services and care options available. Every time clients think of Latin America; we want LATAM Cargo to come to mind.”
