Turkish Cargo SMARTIST Istanbul Airport IATA Smart Facility Operational Capacity Certification

Turkish Cargo, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, has recently achieved the prestigious IATA Smart Facility Operational Capacity Certification for its cutting-edge SMARTIST Terminal at Istanbul Airport. This certification attests to the fact that Turkish Cargo’s operational procedures comply with a range of IATA regulations, including those governing cargo handling, dangerous goods, ULD storage, temperature control, live animals, and perishable cargo.

The SMARTIST Terminal stands out as one of the most advanced cargo facilities in the world, where cargo handling and storage are facilitated by a computer-controlled Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). This state-of-the-art system minimizes the need for manual intervention, thereby streamlining operational processes and reducing potential risks and costs. Furthermore, the terminal employs smart storage management systems that automate ULD storage processes, allowing the workforce to focus on more value-added tasks.

Ali Türk, the Chief Cargo Officer of Turkish Airlines, expressed his satisfaction with the certification. He emphasized Turkish Cargo’s commitment to maximizing customer satisfaction and its ambition to establish itself as an industry leader by 2033. The certification not only validates the adherence of SMARTIST to international quality standards but also underscores the alignment of the company’s digital solutions, smart systems, operations, and human resources with its future goals.

Brendan Sullivan, IATA’s Global Head of Cargo, congratulated Turkish Cargo on this significant achievement. He highlighted the company’s dedication to operational excellence and emphasized that the SMARTIST Terminal sets a high standard for cargo facilities globally. The SFOC Certification reinforces Turkish Cargo’s vision of leading the industry by prioritizing customer satisfaction.

The IATA SFOC Certification is a result of comprehensive evaluations conducted by independent auditors in accordance with IATA standards. This esteemed recognition underscores the compliance of Turkish Cargo’s handling and storage processes with global standards, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and competitive capabilities while bolstering customer satisfaction.
