Kintetsu World Express (Benelux) B.V. (KWE Benelux), a subsidiary of Kintetsu World Express, Inc., has announced its plans to construct and operate a new air cargo terminal by 2024, with the aim of boosting air cargo handling volume in the future.
The new terminal will be strategically located in Schiphol Airport’s cargo area, in proximity to airline cargo facilities. It will facilitate in-house Unit Load Device (ULD) build-up and breakdown of air consolidation cargo, catering to a wide range of goods. Moreover, the terminal will house a GDP-certified temperature control facility for medical supplies and pharmaceuticals that require precise temperature control. To ensure the security of customers’ cargo, the terminal will also hold TAPA certification.
As part of the expansion plans, the logistics operations in KWE Benelux’s Warehouse 2 will be merged into the new terminal, providing an opportunity to streamline operations and offer improved logistics and air cargo services to clients. The new facility, designed with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind, will feature construction using wood and XCarb steel, along with solar panels on the roof. Upon completion, the building will be BREEAM certified Excellent.
The initiative to establish a dedicated air cargo terminal reflects KWE Benelux’s commitment to expanding its air import/export business, strengthening its presence in Europe, and increasing the volume of cargo handled between Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The company aims to leverage its global network to continue providing world-class logistics services.
