Nippon Express Co., Ltd. has entered into an agreement with Nikon Corporation to provide air cargo transport services utilizing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This partnership is part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s “Project to Promote SAF Use in Air Cargo Transport for Corporate Compliance with Scope 3 Requirements.”

Nippon Express, selected as a designated cargo agent for the project in August 2024, will issue Nikon CO2 reduction certificates based on the volume of SAF used in transporting Nikon’s air cargo. This collaboration aims to support Nikon in reducing its Scope 3 CO2 emissions and further enhance Nippon Express’s support for Nikon’s global environmental initiatives.

The NX Group, which includes Nippon Express, has identified expanded SAF use as a key initiative in developing sustainable solutions. They offer the “NX-GREEN SAF Program” and participate in ANA’s “SAF Flight Initiative.”

The NX Group is committed to reducing its in-house emissions (Scope 1, 2) by 50% from 2013 levels by 2030 and has pledged to achieve carbon neutrality across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 2050. The group is actively pursuing Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) certification and will continue to prioritize environmental conservation and sustainability.
