Turkish Cargo’s SMARTIST Facility Receives LEED Platinum Operations Certification

Turkish Cargo, the air cargo brand of Turkish Airlines, has achieved the prestigious LEED v4.1 O+M: EB Platinum Operations Certification for its SMARTIST cargo facility. This certification recognizes the company’s commitment to energy efficiency, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.

Mr. Ali Turk, Chief Cargo Officer of Turkish Airlines, emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainability, stating, “Acting with the awareness of sustainability and the environment is among our priorities. We are committed to ensuring that the SMARTIST cargo facility is equipped with high capacity and cutting-edge technology and a sustainable and people-oriented building.”

The SMARTIST facility utilizes state-of-the-art technology, such as the computer-controlled Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and the ULD Storage System. These systems automate cargo storage and transfer, leading to more efficient operational processes and cost savings.

The LEED v4.1 O+M: EB Platinum Operations Certification is designed to enhance energy, water, material, and interior quality and reduce environmental impacts. This achievement reflects Turkish Cargo’s determination to reduce its carbon footprint and operate in an environmentally responsible manner.
