Yusen Logistics has become a member of Smart Freight Centre (SFC), an international non-profit organization focused on reducing global freight transportation’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emission impact.
Taking action toward supply chain decarbonization is critical to combat the impacts of climate change. That’s why Yusen Logistics has joined the SFC community. It aims to achieve net-zero GHG emissions for all services by 2050 as the Group’s environmental target. Through collaboration with global partners and SFC’s industry-leading network, it’s taking steps towards accelerating its GHG emission reduction goals.
SFC, based in Amsterdam, facilitates solutions regarding global warming, including visualization of the impact of increasing GHG emissions, proposals for reducing GHG emissions, and guidelines for decarbonization in the logistics sector. SFC also guides to reduce GHG emissions in the global logistics industry by one billion tonnes by 2030 and achieve zero emissions by 2050, thereby keeping the global average temperature rise below 1.5 degrees Celsius.
As a member of SFC, Yusen Logistics will continue to promote sustainable, long-term initiatives as a core company of the NYK Group, which aims to achieve sustainable growth with its customers and prioritize ESG management in its growth strategy.
