Yusen Logistics recently transported the commercial debris inspection demonstration satellite ADRAS-J of Astroscale Japan Inc. to Auckland, New Zealand.
Astroscale is the market leader in satellite servicing and long-term orbital sustainability across all orbits. It has been selected by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as a partner for Phase I of JAXA’s Commercial Removal of Debris Demonstration project and developed ADRAS-J.
In December 2022, Yusen Logistics signed a marketing partnership agreement with Astroscale for the ADRAS-J project. It supported its goal of removing debris to make people, the earth, and space sustainable.
Yusen Logistics arranged transportation of ADRAS-J by air to Auckland, New Zealand, with a chartered flight operated by ANA Cargo Co., Ltd. The ADRAS-J will be launched by a rocket from a launch site in Mahia, New Zealand, and is designed to obtain images and deliver observational data to understand the debris environment better. With the hope of the success of the ADRAS-J project, the Yusen group completed arrangements for international transportation, including the collection, packing, and customs clearance of the precision satellite.
