Atlas Air Etihad Cargo Long-Term Strategic Partnership

Atlas Air, Inc., the leading global provider of outsourced aviation logistics, and Etihad Cargo, the cargo and logistics arm of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, have announced a new long-term strategic partnership.

The agreement sees Atlas Air providing Etihad Cargo with dedicated freighter capacity through the operation of a newly delivered Boeing 777 freighter (777F). Starting in August, the aircraft will initially be deployed on routes connecting Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and Madrid, supporting crucial trade lanes across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

The partnership comes at a time of increasing global demand for specialized air freight, including general cargo, e-commerce, automotive components, pharmaceuticals, and perishable products.

Leveraging Efficiency and Global Reach

The Boeing 777F, recognized as the world’s largest, longest-range twin-engine freighter with a payload of over 100 tons, offers state-of-the-art efficiency and reliability. This aircraft choice supports Etihad Cargo’s commitment to delivering sustainable, high-quality cargo solutions and enhancing its customer product offering.

Michael Steen, Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Air Worldwide, emphasized the strategic fit, stating, “We are pleased to tailor this long-term dedicated capacity solution to help Etihad capture growth opportunities. With our global scale and flexible, agile network, Atlas Air is enabling Etihad to expand their operations and serve their customers with confidence.”

Sustaining Growth Momentum

The expanded collaboration builds upon a strong relationship between the two carriers that dates back to 2012. For Etihad Cargo, the additional capacity is essential to sustain its growth momentum, especially as Etihad Airways’ passenger fleet expands.

Stanislas Brun, Chief Cargo Officer at Etihad Airways, highlighted the need for synchronized growth across both divisions. He said, “With Etihad Airways’ passenger fleet continuing to grow, it is essential that our freighter fleet expands in parallel to sustain this momentum and deliver end-to-end network connectivity. By aligning growth across both passenger and freighter operations, Etihad Cargo reinforces its ability to meet evolving customer demand, strengthen high-volume trade lanes, and introduce greater flexibility across key markets.”

The new 777F capacity will further enhance the reliability and agility of Etihad Cargo’s services worldwide.
