Cathay Double Victory ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards

Cathay has received two prestigious accolades at Air Transport World’s (ATW) 51st annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards. Cathay Cargo has been named Cargo Operator of the Year, a title it previously held in 2023, while Cathay Pacific has been recognized as Eco-Airline of the Year, the first Asian airline to receive this honor.

Lavinia Lau, Cathay’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer expressed pride in these achievements, attributing them to the dedication of the airline’s global team. She also highlighted Cathay’s commitment to strengthening Hong Kong’s position as a global cargo hub and its leadership in aviation sustainability.

Cargo Operator of the Year

Tom Owen, Cathay Director Cargo, acknowledged the significance of the Cargo Operator of the Year award, emphasizing the team’s dedication and Cathay Cargo’s role in maintaining Hong Kong’s status as a leading air cargo hub. He also reiterated the airline’s commitment to innovation and collaboration to further enhance Hong Kong’s connectivity.

The award recognizes Cathay Cargo’s innovative services, including its intermodal services connecting Hong Kong and Dongguan, its API access to the Click & Ship booking platform, and the enhanced Cathay Courier special solution with piece-level tracking. Cathay Cargo’s and the Cathay Cargo Terminal’s IATA CEIV certifications and the Cathay Cargo Terminal’s IEnvA certification further solidify their expertise and commitment to quality and sustainability.

Eco-Airline of the Year

Cathay’s recognition as Eco-Airline of the Year stems from its commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and its efforts to promote sustainable practices and circular solutions.

Grace Cheung, Cathay’s General Manager of Sustainability, emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing sustainability challenges and highlighted Cathay’s initiatives, including the Corporate SAF Programme, SAF uplifts, and the Hong Kong SAF Coalition.

Cathay Pacific’s commitment to reducing single-use plastics (SUP) was also acknowledged, with significant progress made in reducing passenger-facing SUP items. The airline has also implemented enhanced recycling programs and transitioned to 100% recycled plastic (rPET) bottles for onboard water.

These ATW awards add to Cathay’s recent achievements, including recognition from Skytrax and AirlineRatings.
