Hactl Multiple Honors HKIA Airport Safety Recognition Scheme

Air cargo terminal operator Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has been awarded the HKIA Safety Excellence Award in the Airport Safety Advancement category during the 2025/26 Airport Safety Recognition Scheme. Organized annually by the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), the scheme recognizes airport community operators that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to mitigating industrial risks and maintaining a secure operational environment.

The corporate-level distinction was formally presented by Steven Yiu, Executive Director of Airport Operations at AAHK, to Hactl’s Safety, Sustainability, and Quality Assurance team during an official ceremony on June 2, 2026.

Setting a Corporate Record for Individual and Team Safety Accolades

In tandem with the primary corporate advancement award, Hactl personnel achieved a new company milestone by securing a total of 30 individual and departmental safety awards within the same evaluation cycle. This represents the highest volume of accolades the cargo handler has received in a single year under the AAHK program, highlighting the deep integration of safety protocols across its front-line warehouse and ramp management teams.

The 30 accolades were distributed across several specialized operational and behavioral categories:

  • Best Safety Supervisor: Recognizing front-line air cargo managers who enforce strict compliance with ground handling and heavy machinery safety standards.
  • Role Model Safety Behaviour: Celebrating individual warehouse and ramp employees who consistently demonstrate proactive hazard avoidance and safe cargo-handling practices.
  • Good Safety Suggestion: Awarding practical, employee-led concepts aimed at optimizing terminal workflows to reduce physical strain or equipment collision risks.
  • Accident Prevention Measures: Commending specific, engineering or process-driven safeguards implemented to eliminate operational blind spots within high-density cargo consolidation zones.

Cultivating a High-Accountability Safety Culture

Operating SuperTerminal 1—one of the world’s largest single multi-level air cargo terminals—requires constant coordination between automated container storage systems, heavy forklifts, and large-scale freighter ramp operations. Because of this high-density industrial footprint, Hactl utilizes a continuous, multi-tiered safety management program designed to encourage personal accountability among its workforce.

The consecutive corporate and individual awards from AAHK underscore Hactl’s long-term strategy of embedding safety directly into its operational KPIs. By actively encouraging front-line workers to submit safety suggestions and rewarding proactive behavioral traits, the air cargo handler continues to drive down workplace incident rates, ensuring reliable, uninterrupted ground-handling services for international airlines operating through Hong Kong International Airport.
