Kuehne+Nagel and SATS Ltd. have significantly advanced their strategic partnership, originally established through a 2023 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on value chain optimization and sustainability. The two global logistics powerhouses have announced new initiatives aimed at strengthening resilience and enhancing efficiency in global air cargo logistics supply chains, including the launch of an expedited delivery service for urgent aircraft parts in Singapore and the expansion of multi-modal Sea-Air solutions.
Expedited Delivery for Time-Critical Aircraft Parts
In a direct response to aircraft-on-ground (AOG) emergencies, SATS Ltd. and Sterling, a Kuehne+Nagel company, have launched a new expedited delivery solution at Singapore Changi Airport. AOG situations, where aircraft are grounded due to technical or mechanical issues, can result in significant operational and financial impacts. This new service is designed to address these critical disruptions by reducing delivery times for spare parts and providing enhanced real-time shipment visibility, thereby enabling faster return to service for grounded aircraft.
Expanding Sea-Air Multi-Modal Services
The companies have also expanded their Sea-Air logistics offerings at major hubs in Los Angeles and Singapore. This multi-modal approach provides faster connectivity, reducing transit time, costs, and carbon emissions by streamlining shipment handling directly from port to airside facilities.
Improving Trucking and Warehouse Efficiency
A successful pilot project has been launched at Frankfurt Airport between Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company, and Kuehne+Nagel. This initiative aims to accelerate import cargo clearances, optimize operational capacity, and reduce delays by streamlining cargo pick-up and delivery by truck, ensuring immediate fulfillment of customer requests. Further joint projects are planned at Frankfurt Airport to continue improving airfreight processes at this critical hub.
Leadership Perspectives
Yngve Ruud, EVP Air Logistics at Kuehne+Nagel, highlighted the proven strength of the partnership: “Our partnership with SATS proved vital during the Red Sea crisis, supporting our Sea-Air solutions to mitigate disruptions to our customers’ supply chains. We’re excited to expand this collaboration with SATS to enhance value in supply chains through trucking, warehousing, and time-critical shipment solutions.”
Francois Mirallie, Deputy CEO Gateway Services Global, SATS Ltd., concurred: “This expanded collaboration with Kuehne+Nagel underscores our shared commitment to building smarter, more resilient global supply chains. By combining SATS’ deep expertise in air cargo handling with Kuehne+Nagel’s global logistics network, we are accelerating innovation across critical touch points. Together, we are delivering agile, customer-centric solutions that meet the evolving needs of our ecosystem partners.”
Both companies expressed their commitment to expanding their global collaboration to include specialized solutions for the healthcare and aerospace sectors in the future.
