Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss WorldCargo, both freight divisions of the Lufthansa Group, have announced a new strategic partnership to deepen commercial and operational synergies while maintaining their independent brand identities. The collaboration is designed to increase value for customers and partners across the Group’s global network.

Unified Market Approach with Distinct Brand Strengths

Under this new initiative, the two companies will align their market approach, harmonise services and shipment flows, and consolidate operations through a shared IT platform. The goal is to present a unified customer experience while retaining the unique strengths and expertise of each brand.

Swiss WorldCargo focuses on premium, time-critical shipments through its bellyhold network, providing high-quality, tailored services to over 130 destinations worldwide. Lufthansa Cargo offers a broad global network with both belly and freighter capacity, leading in operational efficiency, digitalisation, and product innovation. The combined service portfolio is expected to offer customers a wider range of solutions supported by extensive experience in specialised cargo handling.

Executives Highlight Value of Collaboration

Alain Chisari, Head of Swiss WorldCargo, said the move builds on the brands’ shared values and complementary strengths.

“We are building on the strengths of Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss WorldCargo, two brands with distinct identities and a common commitment to quality and care,” said Mr. Chisari. “By combining our capabilities and market presence, we will unlock new synergies and deliver enhanced value across our network.”

Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, noted the benefits of offering a wider network and deeper expertise under a more integrated framework.

“Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss WorldCargo are both known for reliability and quality in the air freight industry. Through this cooperation, our customers will gain access to one of the industry’s most comprehensive networks and product portfolios,” said Mr. Bhat. “This closer alignment also strengthens Lufthansa Group’s overall mission of connecting people, cultures, and economies through sustainable logistics solutions.”

Forward-Looking Synergies

The partnership will be implemented over the coming months, with joint activities planned across commercial, operational, and technological domains. Both companies will continue to focus on customer satisfaction, efficiency, and long-term sustainability while working more closely as part of a coordinated Group-wide strategy.
