Yamato Holdings, Japan Airlines (JAL), and SPRING JAPAN have launched dedicated cargo aircraft operations between Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport and Kitakyushu Airport, marking a significant milestone in air cargo transportation. The new service, which commenced on Thursday, August 1, 2024, has expanded the reach of these freighters to Haneda Airport, making it the fifth airport served by the partnership. The other airports in the network include Narita Airport, New Chitose Airport, Kitakyushu Airport, and Naha Airport, which have been operational since April 11, 2024.

To mark the commencement of service to Haneda Airport, an unveiling ceremony was held on the same day. The new cargo services will operate late-night flights between Haneda Airport in Tokyo and New Chitose Airport in Sapporo, Hokkaido, as well as Kitakyushu Airport in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka. These flights will provide a crucial link for the transportation of products to more distant locations while allowing for daytime production and harvesting schedules for agricultural and marine products to be maintained.

Yamato Holdings, Japan Airlines, and SPRING JAPAN aim to leverage the capabilities of these freighters to support producers and businesses in expanding their trade areas and revitalizing regional industries through rapid transportation. The strategic utilization of air transport, convenient flight schedules, including late-night hours, and a wide-reaching transportation network extending even beyond Japan’s borders will provide reliable transportation capacity for businesses and industries.
