DHL Group has launched a multi-divisional expansion of its Life Sciences and Healthcare (LSHC) infrastructure in Singapore. The investments span DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain, and DHL Express to support growing regional demand for temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and medical devices.
The capital expenditure forms part of DHL’s €500 million commitment to Asia-Pacific under its €2 billion global LSHC investment program.
Key Infrastructure Developments
The expansion introduces specialized infrastructure across three key operating divisions:
- DHL Global Forwarding (Singapore Coldchain Hub): A S$22 million (€15 million), 3,047 m² GDP-aligned facility located at Changi Nexus One within the Changi Free Trade Zone. Slated for launch in late 2027, it features dedicated 2°C–8°C and 15°C–25°C environments with direct airside access.
- DHL Supply Chain (Pharma Hub 2): A S$7 million (€5 million), 8,000 m² temperature-controlled ambient facility (15°C–25°C, <60% humidity) providing 7,680 pallet positions. Scheduled to open by H1 2027, it brings DHL Supply Chain’s total Singapore pharma footprint to 16,000 m² and 12,000 pallet positions.
- DHL Express (South Asia Hub): Integrates a GDP-compliant 20 m² controlled ambient space (15°C–25°C) at Changi Airport, marking the express division’s first global GDP-aligned facility.
Ecosystem Partnerships and Workforce Development
DHL is partnering with Changi Airport Group to enhance regional cold-chain air corridors. Additionally, DHL Express has partnered with Life Science Incubator (LSI) to provide supply chain workshops and logistics access to healthcare startups and researchers.
To support these facilities, DHL is expanding its workforce of specialist personnel—including in-house pharmacists—supported by continuous GDP compliance training under its Certified Life Sciences Specialist program.
