Air cargo carrier Emirates SkyCargo has expanded its freighter operations into India, adding dedicated cargo flights to Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad to support high-value export growth across the region.
The network expansion brings Emirates SkyCargo’s total freighter frequency to seven weekly flights into India, supplementing bellyhold capacity across 167 weekly passenger services.
Tonnage Metrics and Commodities Portfolio
During the 2025/26 financial year, the carrier moved over 153,000 tonnes of Indian export cargo across its nine airport gateways:
- Weekly Freight Volumes: Transports an average of over 650 tonnes of pharmaceutical products and 600 tonnes of fresh perishables per week through its Dubai hub.
- Agricultural Shipments: Flown nearly 2,900 tonnes of seasonal Indian mangoes to international markets between April and June 2026.
- Key Industrial Sectors: Core export commodities include biopharmaceuticals, high-tech electronics, automotive parts, precision engineering equipment, and retail fashion products.

India-UAE Trade Corridors and Multimodal Logistics
The added capacity aligns with accelerating trade flows under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA):
- Bilateral Volume Growth: Transported over 28,000 tonnes of export cargo from India to the UAE in FY25/26, representing a 24% year-on-year volume increase.
- Inland Road Feeder Network: Integrated road feeder services (RFS) moved over 4,500 tonnes of import/export cargo during the past 12 months, connecting manufacturing hubs outside primary airport gateways.
Executive Perspective
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President at Emirates SkyCargo, stated that expanding maindeck freighter capacity into Southern India’s technology and manufacturing hubs provides local exporters with reliable, high-capacity connections to global supply chains across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East.
