
Icelandair Cargo has officially launched air freight operations in Turkey through a new strategic alliance with Globe Air Cargo Turkiye, a subsidiary of ECS Group. The partnership, which combines local market knowledge with global network capabilities, began with the inaugural flight on September 5, 2025.
The new service includes four weekly flights between Istanbul (IST) and Keflavik (KEF), utilizing Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. These flights will provide cargo connections to major markets in the United States and Europe, targeting key sectors such as textiles, automotive parts, and machinery.
A Partnership Built on Global Reach and Local Expertise
According to Einar Már Guðmundsson, Managing Director at Icelandair Cargo, the collaboration marks a major milestone for the company’s expansion into the Turkish market. He added that the expertise of Globe Air Cargo Turkiye, combined with ECS Group’s digital resources, will ensure efficient service for customers from the start.
Jean Ceccaldi, CEO of ECS Group, stated that the partnership connects the global ambitions of its airline partners with strong local expertise. He noted that the daily commitment of the Globe Air Cargo Turkiye team, along with the resources and digital innovation of ECS Group, will enable Icelandair Cargo to quickly establish itself as a key player along the new trade corridor.
