Thai Airways has solidified its commitment to the Nordic air cargo market by appointing HWF Scandinavia and Finland, a subsidiary of ECS Group, as its exclusive General Sales and Services Agent (GSSA) for Sweden and Denmark. This move, effective immediately, extends a long-standing partnership and signals Thai Airways’ strategic focus on enhancing its freight capabilities in Northern Europe.
The renewed collaboration leverages ECS Group’s extensive global network and deep local market understanding, aiming to deliver high-value, high-performance cargo solutions tailored to the specific demands of Nordic shippers.
Enhanced Connectivity and Capacity for Nordic Shippers
Thai Airways operates daily direct flights from Stockholm (Airbus A350) and Copenhagen (Boeing 777) to Bangkok, providing critical airfreight links to the Asia-Pacific region. This includes multiple daily connections to Australia and key Southeast Asian markets. The airline’s robust schedule ensures consistent uplift capacity, speed, and efficiency for a diverse range of cargo, from pharmaceuticals and perishables to high-value electronics and vulnerable (VUN) goods.
HWF will take on comprehensive sales and customer service operations, moving beyond mere booking and handling. Their focus will be on providing commercial insights, fostering local engagement, and implementing tailored segmentation strategies to meet the varied needs of Nordic businesses. The strength of ECS Group’s on-the-ground teams, supported by their global infrastructure, ensures Thai Airways can remain agile and responsive to evolving market opportunities.
A Strategic Partnership Driven by Expertise and Technology
“This new chapter in Sweden and Denmark builds on years of mutual trust and collaboration with ECS Group across multiple markets,” stated a representative from Thai Airways. “The combination of local knowledge, operational excellence, and strategic thinking that ECS brings through HWF gives us the confidence to stand out in competitive Nordic markets, not just as a carrier, but as a true logistics partner.”
The partnership is further strengthened by ECS Group’s digital capabilities, powered by CargoTech. This integration provides Thai Airways’ cargo customers in the region with smart tools for pricing, real-time data tracking, performance analytics, and booking optimization. These digital enhancements are designed to streamline processes, increase visibility, and facilitate more informed decision-making throughout the supply chain.
“This isn’t just another GSSA appointment; it’s a demonstration of how Thai Airways and ECS Group together deliver value far beyond capacity through expertise, technology, and a deep-rooted commitment to customer success,” commented Jean Ceccaldi, CEO of ECS Group.
Torbjörn Lundblad, Managing Director of HWF Scandinavia and Finland, added, “Our team is deeply invested in this market. We understand the customers, we understand their cargo, and we’re ready to bring Thai Airways even closer to their needs. We’re honored by the trust placed in us and excited for what’s ahead.”
This renewed partnership underscores both Thai Airways’ and ECS Group’s shared dedication to performance, leveraging local expertise and global reach to solidify their position for continued success in the competitive Nordic air cargo market.
