Nippon Express (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (NX Malaysia), part of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, has opened its new Batu Kawan Logistics Center to support growing demand from the semiconductor, medical equipment, and electronics industries. The completion ceremony for the facility, located near Penang’s Batu Kawan Industrial Park, was held on 27 May 2025.
The 9,204㎡ air-conditioned warehouse features advanced cargo handling capabilities, including high-floor berths, loading docks, and electric dock levelers, along with 24-hour security and full CCTV coverage. With a 12-meter ceiling height and dedicated space for repacking, kitting, and labeling, the facility is designed to deliver value-added services for high-tech and medical-sector clients.

Penang, often referred to as the “Silicon Valley of the East,” is Malaysia’s second-largest economic region after Greater Kuala Lumpur. The state has emerged as a key manufacturing hub for semiconductors and medical equipment, attracting significant foreign investment. Batu Kawan Industrial Park, which opened in 2011, now houses around 120 Japanese and international companies across these sectors. The logistics center’s strategic location—25 km from Penang Airport, 300 km from Kuala Lumpur, and near major transport links such as the Penang Second Bridge—makes it ideal for efficient domestic and international distribution.
“The Batu Kawan facility represents our commitment to supporting the growing needs of Malaysia’s high-tech industries,” said NX Malaysia President Akira Hiraoka. “By providing advanced logistics solutions and value-added services, we aim to enhance supply chain efficiency for our customers.”
NX Group continues to invest in expanding its global logistics network to meet evolving industry requirements.
