
Qatar Airways Cargo is significantly increasing its belly-hold flight frequencies and scheduled freighter capacity across its global network this winter to meet rising demand during the peak shipping season. The expansion leverages the airline’s extensive passenger network to boost cargo volume on key international trade lanes across four continents.
The carrier’s hub at Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha, strategically located between Europe, Asia, and Africa, will serve as the central point for this enhanced connectivity.
Key Capacity Increases by Region
The network boost includes several landmark increases, offering customers greater choice and flexibility for transporting goods.
Europe
The UK and major European economic centers will see substantial frequency additions:
- London: Increased from 8 to a historic 10 daily passenger flights, marking Qatar Airways’ highest-ever frequency to the city. This is complemented by nine weekly freighter flights, adding 900 tonnes of capacity each way.
- Berlin & Frankfurt: Service increased from 18 to 21 weekly flights to both cities, with Frankfurt also supported by nine weekly freighters offering 900 tonnes of additional capacity.
- Dublin & Madrid: Increased from 14 to 17 weekly flights. Madrid further benefits from 11 weekly freighter flights, providing 1,100 tonnes of extra capacity per week.
- Manchester: Service increased from 21 to up to 24 weekly flights.
Africa
The airline is strengthening its footprint across the African continent:
- Johannesburg: Increased from 14 to 18 weekly flights, plus three weekly freighters providing 300 tonnes of capacity.
- Cape Town: Increased from 10 to 12 weekly flights.
- Casablanca: Service increased from 4 to 7 weekly flights.
- Zanzibar: A new daily widebody aircraft service is set to commence on October 26, 2025.
Asia and the Americas
Key markets in the East and West will see notable boosts in connectivity:
- Tokyo Narita: Increased from 11 to 14 weekly flights (double-daily service).
- Phuket: Service increased from 3 to 4 daily flights.
- São Paulo: Increased from 14 to 18 weekly flights, with four weekly freighters adding 400 tonnes of capacity.
- Toronto: Increased from 5 to 7 weekly flights (daily service).
- Bangkok: Service increases from 42 to 45 weekly flights during the peak period between December 13, 2025, and February 16, 2026.
Mark Drusch, Chief Officer Cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo, stated, “We are continuously refining our capacity and operations to meet dynamic market demands, especially as we head into the peak season. These frequency increases reflect our commitment to delivering reliable, high-performance cargo solutions across the globe.”
Customers can book cargo space through the airline’s Digital Lounge platform or via third-party booking platforms hosting Qatar Airways Cargo.
