Rhenus Group UAE Presence Gulf Logistics Strategy

The Rhenus Group, a global logistics services provider, has significantly expanded its operational model in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This move upgrades the company from a limited local setup to a fully integrated market presence, intended to strengthen service delivery across the UAE and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, including high-potential markets like Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The expansion is a proactive step toward long-term regional growth, following nearly a decade of Rhenus activity in the UAE. As part of this commitment, the company is preparing to establish a new office in Abu Dhabi to further integrate its services across the Emirates.

Strategic Network Enhancement

The UAE remains a critical transshipment point for global trade connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa. Rhenus’ enhanced footprint is specifically designed to leverage this hub status while offering more direct and flexible logistics services to regional clients.

A key component of the new strategy is the launch of a dedicated Air-Ocean product offering. This new service will utilize the UAE as a strategic transshipment node, providing multimodal connectivity between the Far East and markets in Europe and the Americas.

Rhenus will maintain its core focus on Air & Ocean Freight services, supported by a growing local team and an emphasis on operational stability and service quality throughout the gradual implementation phase.

Sector-Focused Solutions and New Partnerships

The company is enhancing its capabilities to support specialized, high-demand sectors across the Gulf, including:

  • High-Tech, Fashion, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
  • Aerospace.
  • Pharmaceuticals: Offering temperature-controlled transport solutions.
  • Automotive: Providing specialized express delivery for components.
  • Oil and Gas: Managing complex project logistics.

In a related development, Rhenus has been appointed as the Official Freight Forwarder and On-Site Handling Agent for dmg events’ prestigious exhibitions at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Centre in Saudi Arabia. This partnership covers major trade shows, including INDEX Saudi Arabia, ORGATEC – WORKSPACE, and three co-located expos scheduled for September 2025.

Jan Harnisch, Member of the Board – Air & Ocean, stated that the expansion “marks a pivotal step in our commitment to sustainable global growth and regional empowerment. By strengthening our presence here, Rhenus is not only enhancing supply chain resilience but also reinforcing our long-term vision of creating value through local partnerships.”

Hassan Alzeer, General Manager at Rhenus Logistics UAE, added that the development “reflects our commitment to building a more agile and responsive logistics network in the region… positioning ourselves to support the UAE’s role as a strategic trade hub.”
