THAI Airways, the flag carrier of Thailand, has appointed Unilode Aviation Solutions as its full-service provider for Unit Load Device (ULD) management, maintenance, repair, and digital tracking. This partnership marks a significant milestone in THAI Airways’ post-rehabilitation transformation strategy, focusing on operational excellence, digital innovation, and long-term sustainability.
Supporting THAI’s Growth and Modernization
The airline is entering a new phase of growth with a five-year strategic plan that centers on operational excellence, fleet renewal, and digital transformation. THAI aims to nearly double its fleet to approximately 150 aircraft by 2033 and increase its market share across key international markets.
Unilode will provide comprehensive ULD services across THAI’s global network, enhancing fleet utilization, reducing operational complexity, and improving reliability for both passenger and cargo operations. The partnership is strategically supported by Unilode’s Operations Control Centre in Bangkok and a global team of over 800 ULD experts, ensuring local responsiveness.
The Head of Cargo & Mail Commercial at THAI Airways stated that the collaboration is an important step in their transformation strategy, noting that Unilode’s expertise and digital solutions will help streamline operations and strengthen reliability while making tangible progress toward their sustainability goals.
Sustainability and Digital Transformation
The partnership aligns closely with THAI Airways’ sustainability ambitions by embracing the principles of the circular economy. By sharing assets across Unilode’s global ULD pooling network, fewer ULDs are required to support operations, leading to reduced raw material consumption, minimized waste, and lower carbon emissions. Centralized repair and refurbishment within Unilode’s network further extends asset lifecycles.
Unilode’s market-leading digital platforms and data-driven insights will provide THAI Airways with real-time visibility, improved asset utilization, and enhanced sustainability reporting. Ross Marino, CEO of Unilode Aviation Solutions, expressed pride in the partnership, confirming it will “deliver measurable results, improving efficiency, bringing digital transformation, and supporting Thai Airways’ sustainability ambitions.” He added that ULD pooling and full-service management are rapidly becoming the industry standard as airlines worldwide prioritize sustainability and efficiency.
