Turkish Cargo, the global air cargo brand of Turkish Airlines, has significantly bolstered its fleet with the addition of a new Boeing 777 Freighter (777F), bringing its total to nine. The carrier also announced it will take delivery of three additional Boeing 777F aircraft by mid-2026. This expansion will increase the 777F fleet to 12 aircraft.

Increased Capacity and Operational Strategy

This strategic investment in the Boeing 777F, known for its high efficiency, fuel savings, and technical reliability, is central to Turkish Cargo’s growth and sustainability goals. By 2026, this growth is expected to provide an additional annual capacity of approximately 220,000 tons.

Turkish Airlines Chief Cargo Officer Ali Türk stated that this expansion is a strategic investment that enhances their operational capabilities with its extended range, superior payload capacity, and enhanced fuel efficiency. The 777F, with its 9,200 km nonstop range, will primarily operate on long-haul scheduled routes to the Americas and the Far East. The move is guided by the company’s growth strategy centered on wide-body freighters, reinforcing Istanbul’s position as a strategic hub in global air transport.

Paul Righi, Boeing Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Eurasia and India, expressed excitement about the continued partnership, noting that the unique capabilities of the 777 Freighter will enhance Turkish Cargo’s operations with the capacity and reach to support growing cargo market demand.

Alignment with Turkish Airlines’ 2033 Vision

As one of the fastest-growing air cargo brands globally, Turkish Cargo currently services over 350 destinations in 134 countries, transporting approximately 2 million tons of air cargo annually.

The freighter fleet expansion directly supports Turkish Airlines’ ambitious 2033 Vision, which targets a total fleet of 813 aircraft. Under this vision, Turkish Cargo aims to increase its dedicated freighter fleet from 28 to 44 aircraft. This growth is further supported by the SMARTIST 2.0 investment, ongoing digitalization efforts, specialized cargo solutions, and a dedicated team of experts.
