Turkish Airlines Vienna Airport Ground Handling Partnership 2030

Five-Year Agreement Covers Full-Scope Services for Five Daily Istanbul Flights

Turkish Airlines has solidified its long-term presence in the Austrian market by signing a comprehensive five-year ground handling contract with Vienna Airport. The agreement, which runs until 2030, covers a full range of operational requirements, including passenger services, baggage handling, and ramp operations.

Turkish Airlines has served the Austrian capital for nearly 65 years and currently ranks as the fifth-largest carrier at the airport. The airline maintains a high-frequency schedule with five daily flights connecting Vienna to its global super-hub in Istanbul.

A Strategic Alliance for Premium Quality

The partnership ensures that Turkish Airlines—voted the “Best Airline in Europe”—maintains high service standards for the 500,000+ passengers it carries through Vienna annually. The full-scope services provided by Vienna Airport include:

  • Passenger & Aircraft Handling: Comprehensive care from check-in to load control and de-icing.
  • Belly Cargo Logistics: Utilizing passenger flight capacity for freight, including temperature-controlled transport for pharmaceutical products.
  • Operational Reliability: Leveraging Vienna’s position as one of Europe’s most punctual hubs to ensure efficient turnaround times.

Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, noted that the airline’s decision to consolidate its handling services on-site reflects a deep confidence in the airport’s operational excellence and high-performance teams.

Powering Global Connectivity

For Turkish Airlines, the agreement is a “strategic enabler” of its growth strategy. Serkan Özbüyükyörük, General Manager of Turkish Airlines Austria, emphasized the carrier’s commitment to delivering superior quality at every touchpoint of the journey.

As a Star Alliance member, the standardized handling processes at Vienna also facilitate smoother operational interfaces with partner carriers like Austrian Airlines. This five-year commitment provides both entities with planning security in a competitive European aviation market, reinforcing Vienna’s status as a vital gateway for transit to Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
