DHL, the Official Logistics Partner of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), celebrated a major milestone: the successful delivery of logistics for the 100th WEC race, which took place at Fuji Speedway in Japan from September 26-28. This achievement marked 13 years of partnership since the championship’s inception in 2012, during which DHL served as the driving force behind the global logistics operations for one of the world’s most demanding motorsport series, with a continual focus on sustainability.
Massive Logistics Scale and Sustainable Focus
The sheer scale of the operation over the years was immense. To date, DHL transported over 45,000 metric tons of equipment, including car, broadcast, hospitality, and infrastructure materials. This colossal cargo, equivalent to the weight of 10,000 adult elephants, encompassed 500 race cars, 500,000 racing tires, and 1.5 million liters of fuel. To ensure everything arrived safely and on time for the 100th race, a dedicated team of six motorsports logistics specialists managed customs clearance and all other critical processes.

Carlos Fernandes, Head of Motorsports Germany at DHL Global Forwarding, noted that the long-standing partnership was “built on shared values of precision, performance, sustainability, and global excellence.” To reduce the environmental footprint, DHL used multimodal logistics solutions, strategically combining air, sea, and land freight. They prioritized ocean freight over air transport, utilizing sustainable maritime fuel to cut down on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. For road transport within Europe, trucks powered by Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) helped minimize the environmental impact without compromising reliability. These efforts helped the FIA WEC reduce its environmental footprint, reflecting a shared commitment to decarbonize motorsports logistics.
WEC’s Global Significance
The 100th race at the 6 Hours of Fuji, a fixture since 2012, marked a historic point in the championship’s evolution. The FIA WEC has grown into a cutting-edge platform for hybrid and hypercar technologies, with its 2025 season spanning eight races across four continents at legendary venues like Le Mans, Spa-Francorchamps, and São Paulo. The championship’s rising popularity was clearly evident at the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, which recorded an attendance of approximately 332,000 fans. Frédéric Lequien, CEO of the FIA World Endurance Championship, praised DHL as a “loyal and long-standing partner” that ensured the show seamlessly stayed on the road.
Beyond WEC, DHL is the Official Logistics Partner for other major series, including Formula 1, Formula E, MotoGP, and the FIA, underscoring its leading role in global motorsports logistics.
