dnata handled 227,530 kilograms of fresh flowers in just five days at its dedicated perishables facility at the Dubai Flower Centre, managing a sharp seasonal surge in volumes ahead of Valentine’s Day.
Between 7 and 11 February 2026, dnata processed 274 shipments comprising more than 18,700 boxes of flowers, representing a significant increase compared with normal operating periods. Volumes peaked on 10 February, when the team handled 59,800 kilograms in a single day, more than double the typical daily throughput.
Managing Seasonal Peaks in Perishables Handling

Inbound shipments originated primarily from major flower-exporting countries, including Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Kenya and the Netherlands. While hydrangeas, chrysanthemums and orchids featured strongly among the inbound mix, red roses accounted for the largest share of seasonal demand.
dnata’s purpose-built perishables facility at the Dubai Flower Centre spans approximately 3,500 square metres and is equipped with advanced temperature-controlled zones, rapid airside transfer corridors and specialised material handling systems designed to protect time- and temperature-sensitive cargo.
The facility has the capacity to process up to 400,000 kilograms of perishables per day and is supported by a team of more than 50 trained cargo professionals operating around the clock during peak periods.
Supporting Global Flower Supply Chains

Guillaume Crozier, Chief Cargo Officer at dnata, said Valentine’s Day remained one of the busiest periods of the year for flower logistics, requiring close coordination across the supply chain.
“Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest periods of the year for flower logistics. Our team works closely with airline partners, exporters, freight forwarders, shippers and consignees to ensure shipments move swiftly and efficiently through Dubai, maintaining the highest standards of care for perishables,” he said.
Dubai continues to play a strategic role as a global transit hub for flower shipments, connecting growers across Africa, Europe and Asia with markets in the Middle East and beyond.
