With the addition of Hangzhou to its network, Emirates SkyCargo has reinforced its strategic commitment to East and Southeast Asia by offering more than 21,000 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity across 25 gateways in 12 countries and territories. This milestone solidifies Emirates’ position as the largest non-Asian carrier operating in the region’s air freight sector.

The airline’s high-frequency operation includes 44 weekly freighter flights, 13 charter services, and 311 weekly passenger flights utilising Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s. Combined, this network enables an Emirates aircraft to depart from East or Southeast Asia approximately every 30 minutes, delivering unparalleled access to Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.

“East and Southeast Asia are not just anchors of our global network – they are shaping the future of global logistics and trade,” said Mr. Abdulla Alkhallafi, Vice President of Cargo Commercial, Far East and Australasia. “Our investment in capacity, partnerships, and connectivity reflects our commitment to meeting the region’s exponential demand.”

Supporting Trade and Innovation

From agricultural exports to high-tech manufacturing, Emirates SkyCargo’s regional operations move over 450 tonnes of perishables, 100 tonnes of pharmaceuticals, 75 tonnes of electronics, and more than 1,300 tonnes of e-commerce shipments every week. The carrier plays a vital role in enabling global trade routes and supports initiatives like China’s Belt and Road through reliable access to over 50 participating countries.

Strategic Partnerships and New Routes

Expanding beyond its own network, Emirates SkyCargo’s collaboration with AirAsia’s cargo partner Teleport unlocks access to over 100 regional airports, strengthening supply chain connectivity throughout Southeast Asia. Additionally, the airline has marked a series of industry firsts, including the first direct freighter service between Dubai and Shanghai in 2002 and the recent launch of a direct Narita–Dubai freighter in 2025.

As Emirates pursues its 10-year growth strategy, East and Southeast Asia remain priority markets for future route development and capacity enhancement. The airline continues to play a vital role in connecting Asia’s manufacturing powerhouses with global markets—underpinning both regional prosperity and the future of global logistics.
