International transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss has announced the official launch of its new country organization in the Philippines, marking another milestone in its ongoing expansion across Asia and Oceania. The new Manila office opened its doors on 1 August 2025, following a similar expansion into Thailand earlier this year.
Strengthening Presence in a High-Growth Market
The move reflects the growing economic importance of the Philippines, which is currently ranked as the 10th largest economy in Asia by GDP. With strong trade relationships with the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, the country is becoming an increasingly important logistics hub in the region.
“The Philippines offers great economic potential,” said Michael Zankel, Regional Manager for East Asia and Oceania at Gebrüder Weiss. “With this new country organization, we are creating additional transport connections for our customers to this high-growth market while strengthening our network in Asia.”
New Manila Office to Handle Multimodal Transport
The first Gebrüder Weiss site in the Philippines is strategically located in Metro Manila, the country’s industrial and economic centre. A 14-person team will manage international air and sea freight, customs processing, and domestic land transport.
With direct access to international seaports and Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila offers proximity to key free trade zones such as Clark, Subic, and Cavite, making it an ideal launchpad for future logistics activities.
“In the coming years, we aim to expand our services, particularly offering logistics solutions for key industries such as high-tech, automotive, and consumer goods,” Mr. Zankel added.
Regional Network Grows to 10 Countries

With the Philippines added to its footprint, Gebrüder Weiss now operates in 10 countries across East and Southeast Asia and Oceania: Australia, Greater China, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and now the Philippines. The company’s regional network includes 36 locations and a workforce of approximately 800 employees.

This latest expansion underscores Gebrüder Weiss’s long-term commitment to delivering integrated, customer-focused solutions across one of the world’s most dynamic trade corridors.
