GEODIS 500th Freighter Flight Asia Mexico

Global logistics provider GEODIS has marked a major milestone with the completion of its 500th dedicated freighter flight from Asia to Mexico. Operated in partnership with Atlas Air, the service underscores GEODIS’ commitment to providing secured capacity and consistent performance across long-haul air routes.

Launched in 2019, the freighter service was developed to meet rising demand for reliable air cargo transport between Asia and Latin America. It currently operates two weekly flights departing from Shanghai and Hong Kong, China, directly to Guadalajara, Mexico. Despite widespread disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing geopolitical challenges, GEODIS has maintained uninterrupted operations on this route.

“This is an incredible achievement for our regional network,” said Mr Miguel Muñoz, Managing Director of GEODIS in Mexico. “It demonstrates our long-term investment in connecting Asian manufacturing hubs with Mexican and Latin American markets. The 500th flight milestone would not have been possible without the close collaboration between our teams in Asia, Mexico, the United States, and France.”

The Guadalajara-bound freighter service has become a key pillar of GEODIS’ regional growth strategy, serving as a critical link in customer supply chains and supporting just-in-time delivery models. With secured capacity and stable lead times, the service has proven particularly effective for time-sensitive cargo and high-value shipments.

Integrated End-to-End Network

GEODIS complements its air service with an integrated ground delivery network across Mexico. Upon arrival in Guadalajara, cargo is distributed via scheduled ground transportation to key markets including Mexico City and Monterrey. Shipments can be cleared at Guadalajara customs or transported in-bond to other destinations prior to clearance, offering flexibility for importers.

This seamless air-to-ground connectivity ensures that the speed and reliability of air freight are maintained throughout the delivery process. The company views the Guadalajara route as a strategic corridor linking Asian production with both North and South American consumption markets.

500th Flight Ceremony in Guadalajara

The 500th flight was welcomed at Guadalajara International Airport with a commemorative ceremony attended by GEODIS regional leadership. The event featured a ribbon-cutting and the unveiling of a plaque to honour the milestone.

Looking ahead, GEODIS reaffirmed its ambition to expand air freight services further. “We are committed to reaching the 1,000-flight mark and continuing to deliver value for our customers,” Mr Muñoz added.

The dedicated freighter route from Asia to Mexico continues to strengthen GEODIS’ role as a key logistics partner in Latin America, reinforcing the company’s broader goal of building resilient, customer-focused global supply chain solutions.
