In a significant expansion of their transatlantic partnership, Swiss WorldCargo is officially joining the joint business agreement between Lufthansa Cargo and United Cargo. Effective August 1, 2025, this new collaboration is set to provide cargo customers with greater flexibility and a more extensive network for air freight between Europe and the United States.

The partnership, which has successfully operated between Lufthansa Cargo and United Cargo for several years, allows the airlines to cooperate on sales, customer relations, and network planning. With the addition of Swiss WorldCargo, the alliance will now coordinate on cargo traffic to and from more than 200 destinations across the United States.

Alain Chisari, Head of Swiss WorldCargo, described the move as a major milestone. “This agreement marks an important milestone in strengthening our collaboration, broadening our global network, and offering our customers increased flexibility and connectivity,” Chisari said. “By joining this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable, and efficient air cargo solutions worldwide.”

The expanded agreement is designed to deliver enhanced value through a more seamless cargo experience, leveraging the combined network of three premium carriers. By coordinating services and aligning operational processes, the alliance aims to provide a denser network of direct connections.

Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, highlighted the strategic benefits of the expanded partnership. “The entry of Swiss WorldCargo into Lufthansa Cargo’s successful joint venture with United Cargo marks a significant milestone in enhancing collaboration and adding value for our customers,” Bhat stated. He emphasized that the combined synergies will enhance service quality and represent a step towards sustainable growth in a highly competitive market.

For customers, the new agreement is expected to simplify booking and tracking systems and streamline handling processes, leading to increased capacity and more consistent service.

Jan Krems, President of United Cargo, noted that the collaboration brings together carriers with complementary networks and shared values. “This expanded collaboration brings together three premium carriers with complementary networks, operational expertise, and shared values,” said Krems. “This partnership strengthens our ability to meet growing demand and deliver smarter, more efficient solutions across the air cargo supply chain.”

All joint activities will be carried out in full compliance with applicable competition laws in both the European Union and the United States.
