DHL Express Air Cargo Capacity Hanoi Tech Export Boom

DHL Express has significantly enhanced its aviation network to support Vietnam’s accelerating role as a global manufacturing base, particularly for the booming high-tech export sector in the northern region around Hanoi.

Expanded Capacity and Network Enhancements

DHL Express has added over 300 tons of additional weekly air cargo capacity to its existing daily flights from Hanoi. This strategic boost directly addresses a double-digit increase in tech-related shipment exports seen in the first half of 2025.

The capacity is facilitated by a combination of Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 freighters, which operate daily from Monday to Saturday. These flights transport shipments from Hanoi to other regions via Hong Kong, boosting Vietnam’s connectivity to major international markets, including North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Peter Bardens, Senior Vice President for Network Operations & Aviation – Asia Pacific, DHL Express, emphasized that this move reinforces Vietnam’s role in global trade, which is fueled by “geographic advantages, a skilled workforce, and consistent inflows of foreign investment.”

Vietnam’s Rising Global Prominence

Vietnam is rapidly emerging as a preferred manufacturing hub for high-tech products like laptops and electronics, as companies diversify their supply chains. The country’s upward trajectory is supported by strong growth forecasts. The Ministry of Information and Communications forecasts the ICT industry’s total revenue to reach US$169.3 billion in 2025, an 11.4% increase from 2024. Furthermore, hardware and electronics exports are expected to grow by 12.3%, reaching US$148.5 billion. The DHL Trade Atlas 2025 projects Vietnam to rank among the top 30 countries globally for both the speed and scale of trade growth over the next five years. To solidify its support for this growth, DHL Express has continually expanded its footprint in Vietnam, including the recent opening of a new Hanoi Gateway facility near Noi Bai International Airport and the West service center in Hanoi. These investments in ground and aviation networks ensure DHL Express is well-positioned to meet the country’s export ambitions.
