DHL Group has opened its expanded Middle East and Africa (MEA) Innovation Center in Dubai South, alongside plans by DHL Supply Chain to develop a new contract logistics warehouse in the same district. The combined developments strengthen DHL’s operational footprint in the UAE and underline its long-term commitment to the region.
The MEA Innovation Center is now a permanent facility, following earlier mobile deployments, and is one of four DHL Innovation Centers worldwide. Spanning 1,700 square metres, the centre is designed as a collaborative platform for customers, partners, startups and academic institutions to explore emerging technologies, test scalable solutions and co-create logistics innovations relevant to the region. It can accommodate up to 120 participants and will host DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation experts supporting regional projects.
Katja Busch, Chief Commercial Officer DHL and Head of DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation, said the centre reflects the importance of the MEA region within DHL’s global network and supports closer collaboration with customers on future logistics solutions.

New Contract Logistics Gateway in Dubai South
In parallel, DHL Supply Chain is investing €120 million in a multi-user contract logistics facility located near the Innovation Center in Dubai South. The development will be built on a 96,000 square metre land plot under a 38-year agreement and will comprise a 55,000 square metre warehouse and associated office space.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with completion planned for summer 2027. The facility will operate on a carbon-neutral basis and is designed to support customers across multiple sectors, including the handling of high-value goods under defined security and operational standards. Its location near Al Maktoum International Airport is intended to support regional and intercontinental trade flows.
Orkun Saruhanoglu, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Middle East & Africa, said the site would strengthen DHL’s contract logistics capabilities in the region and act as a gateway connecting East and West.
The Dubai developments form part of DHL Group’s wider regional investment programme. Earlier this year, the company announced planned investments of €500 million across the Middle East and €300 million in Sub-Saharan Africa to support infrastructure expansion and service development.
